| Pattern Description:
Two different kimonos and a crossover top, pants and a skirt. I chose kimono B
Pattern Sizing:
Multi-sized pattern. I used the XL and that worked well.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow?
They were but as with other kimonos, it is not real straight forward. The sleeves were not difficult, but you have to mark notches really well. And press, press, press!
Care needs to be taken when cutting out as the lining and the fashion fabric are cut and sewn exactly the same. If they are off anywhere you can have extra fabric rolling over where it doesn't need to be.
On the positive side, there are not a lot of fitting seams to worry about
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I had this beautiful piece of brocade I have been saving for about seven years for just the right project. I have been invited to a Chinese New Year celebration, and thought it would be fun to finally sew this brocade up. I wanted something a little different and found this OOP pattern in my stash. So, I guess what I liked about the pattern is the style.
Dislike- A lot of fussing to get the sleeve finished. I guess the end result was worth the effort.
Fabric Used:
As I mentioned before, this is a brocade I have had for about seven years. I got it from ebay and was waiting for just the right occasion.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
None, other that I found these frogs in my stash with the brocade. the pattern only snaps inside to close, so the frogs are just for decoration and not functional.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Probably a one shot deal
Conclusion:
Nice pattern for what it is. You need to have the patience to be precise with it and you will be happy with the result!
