Girl's jacket and dress Pattern Sizing:
7 - 10 and 12 - 16 Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes Were the instructions easy to follow?
I didn't have any problems with the instructions What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I like all Vogue patterns and this one was no exception. They always seem to make up well providing you take care about following the instructions. Fabric Used:
I allowed my inner scrooge to overcome my common sense and bought a totally unsuitable embroidered nylon chiffon with a deep embroidered scalloped edge which I found on the bargain table at Textile Traders at Aus$2 a metre. It was also quite a difficult fabric to sew up because I didn't have the benefit of a walking foot at the time. I fussy cut each piece so as to match the embroidered daisies scattered over the fabric. Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
The pattern was not suitable for the fabric I chose because of the princess line and each piece having a curved hem. I had to trim off part of the scalloped embroidery and reattach it when I had finished. I also had to let out the waist quite considerably as my little niece has quite a large belly compared to the rest of her frame. Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
It's unlikely I will sew this again. I made it for my niece, she lives in the UK and I live in Australia so it was something of a miracle that it fitted her as well as it did. No fittings were possible of course so I sort of winged it and hoped for the best. I would recommend it to anyone who needs a girls dress for a special occasion. Conclusion:
I made this for my niece for her to wear while dancing in the Helston Flora Day in Cornwall, UK. All the little girls are required to wear white and my SIL was having trouble finding a dress. This was in 2011 and I made a dress that I hoped would be okay and sent it off. I started a bit of a tradition and am about to begin this year's creation from Butterick 3714.
