Pattern Description: My description - the 'new classic' T shirt pattern
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes - though check Step Six on your instruction sheet. If you have an early version of this pattern, the instructions should be changed to "Sew collar pieces RIGHT sides together..." (if you look at the diagrams this appears obvious but for new sewers, it might be confusing...)
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I like the fact that this is fitted by not overly so. It skims nicely but not too blousy. The bands on the hem and sleeves make for a very nice finish...a great confidence booster to beginner knit sewers...I have yet to be completely happy with the hems of my knit garments, except for my Renfrews.
The cowl version is my favourite - in both long sleeve and short sleeve styles.
Fabric Used:
Mondrian Renfrew = Rayon Jersey / ITY
Green Circles Renfrew = ITY
Paisley Renfrew = ??(no idea what the grey is) / ITY
Stripey Renfrew = Cotton Jersey/ Rayon Jersey
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I added an FBA on the Mondrian and Green Circles versions - much better fit! Don't forget to sew the dart created by this adjustment. I forgot it on the Green Circles version and there are wrinkles on the upper chest as a result. Fortunately the busy print hides this...
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
No doubt there will be many more iterations of this in my wardrobe.
Definitely recommend this parttern, especially for new-to-knits sewers.
