Pattern Description:
Fuchsia is the skirt you can wear for both work and play. This three tiered gathered skirt has a modern silhouette and flirty scallops for a sweet lolita twist. It is fully lined and has a curved waistband that flatters all figure types. Fuchsia also features an invisible side zipper to keep the beautiful line of the scallops perfectly smooth. This versatile pattern has many variations built in with several fabric options. Sew two tiers or just one tier; add more gathers, use less gathers. It is all up to you!
Pattern Sizing:
0-26. This version was made for my friend Tina and is a size 16.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
It does look like the illustration but with a little crisper scallops because this is made out of cotton eyelet and is not as drapey as some other fabrics that have been used on this skirt.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
There are no instructions---yet!! The sew-along starts today February 11th and will be very detailed on how to sew up this pattern. It also includes a unique way of sewing the scallops that keeps them looking smooth even in slippery fabrics or fabrics that are not easily marked like this eyelet.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
This pattern looks amazing in so many different fabrics and in any variety. You can see the other review by Nhi where she makes several different versions, one tier, two tier, and three tier and out of drapey fabrics and stiffer fabrics. It always looks unique and always great. She also has another version that will be debuting during the sew-along that is suitable as going out wear. The variety you can get out of this pattern is amazing. Professional, casual, and party wear all in one pattern..and it is free!
Fabric Used:
This is a lime green cotton eyelet. It wouldn't take a mark well for the scallops so we had to figure out a different way. And we did! We will cover hard to mark fabrics in the sew-along as well.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
This was made as the original version, with three tiers and in a size 16. No variations on this version.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I already have! I have a super cute version I made for myself that I will debut during the sew-along as well.
Love this skirt! I downloaded the pattern and hope to follow the sew along of the great little fuschia skirt.
