Pattern Description:
Seamed Dress - Slim fitted sleeveless dress with features including front shoulder panels, front double neck pleat and triangle features on the skirt.
Pattern Sizing:
The pattern came in sizing 6-14 I guess in Australian sizing.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes it did, and even better the pattern came with sleeves which I was really excited about. I hate sleeveless everything and usually make my own sleeves for dresses.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
I don't think I even looked at the instructions. Whilst BurdaStyle instructions are getting better they are still in a pretty 1-5 all text format so its not that easy to understand. It wasn't very hard to piece the dress together but probably not for beginners and if you want a lining you just have to work out what the best way for you is.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I loved the top of this dress. So many really cute features as stated above. You really need to check out the lined drawing of this dress to see where the pleats/darts and pattern runs but its really cute. I didn't however like the skirt part, I had to re-cut the skirt as it was too small and was a bit tight around my bum!
Fabric Used:
Cotton Sateen. Love this fabric! This fabric for those is Aus was from Spotlight and Lincraft.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
The first dress I had to re-cut the bum and in doing so I ended up omitting the triangles for the back. The second dress I made (flowery orange/black etc) I ended up cutting a different skirt which included front and back pleats and pockets. I liked this version better.
More photos for both versions on my blog
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes, big Yes! Although the second version with the pleated skirt is my favourite.
Conclusion:
Great pattern, not so great instructions. If you are good with BurdaStyle patterns you must give this one a go but make sure you do a muslin for the skirt. Thats my tip anyway. All in all a really nice pattern and something a little different.

Adorable dress, I love the pockets and both of your fabric choices. I agree on the Burdastyle instructions-they are not written for visual learners or beginners!
