Pattern Description:
This is a great FREE pattern available for download at clothhabit.com.
Pattern Sizing:
0-14, I was between an 8 and 10 so I chose to make 10s.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? The photo on the form makes it appear like this has full rear coverage--at least for me it decidedly did NOT. They are cut more like cheeksters in the back.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes! I wish the stitch size advice was included with the printed pattern but it is on the blog post about construction process.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
This is a very forgiving design. If your lace slips a bit or you need to put more ease in towards the end of a leg hole? No big deal once you put the ladyshorts on as it all stretches out anyway. As such this is a great pattern for learning to work with light, lacy fabrics as you can work through the kinks as you make up a bunch but still end up with wearable garments.
Fabric Used:
White stretch lace fabric from Hancock Fabrics.
Scrap black and white rayon knit from Hobby Lobby leftover from a top.
1.25" stretch galloon lace from Joann Fabric.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I added a bit more coverage in the back when cutting out my second pair--about 1/4" at the deepest part of the curve. I was unable to find 1" lace locally so I opted for 1.25 lace instead. I actually like having a little extra width.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes! These are light and comfy undies. They couldn't be easier to construct.
Conclusion:
This is a great pattern to try for beginners. If you are new to lingerie I suggest NOT making your first pair with lace on lace. It is nearly impossible to rip out mistakes. But then again the pattern is so easy, you may not have any! |
