Pattern Description:
Large (12x6) clutch with loops for attaching a strap. Strap can be made of self or purchased bias itape or purchased chain or leather strap might also be nice. It also features an interior zippered pocket. Pattern Sizing:
One size Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
this is a 12" clutch that can be converted to a shoulder bag, that being said, wish it had more depth Fabric Used:
African Mudcloth for the exterior and upholstery fabric for the lining. I have had the mudcloth scraps in my stash since forever and stitched a couple of longer scraps to a wider scrap. The bag was cut on the diagonal of the fabric.
Mudcloth is made by sewing hand woven 4"-6" wide X 36"-72" strips that have been dyed with organic dyes together to form a wider width of fabric. It ravels like crazy and is very bulky. However, the hand has the feel of very coarse denim or very pliable canvas. Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I only bound the edges of the closing flap. I have some leftover leather that was harvested from a coat that was purchased for that purpose. I bound the flap edges with the leather by cutting a strip that was about one inch wide. I also made the loops to hold the straps with leather. Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes; however, I will make it a little deeper. I highly recommend this pattern. Conclusion:
I received this as a prize for competing in the Vintage Pattern Contest last year (thanks Studio Cherie!). The directions are illustrated and and very thorough. If you would like this pattern visit StudioCherie on Etsy
