Pattern Description:
Knit, fitted dress with side ruching over torso. Knee length.
Pattern Sizing:
Made a 14 with seams sewn to give an extra 3/4" of ease.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Kinda, sorta maybe. I have a more hilly landscape.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, but I skipped the lining and fussy finish to the ruched side seams. I ran easing stitches on front and back side seams, with F and B together, then serged them together with interfacing over the stitching line.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Looks chic and adorable, right? Especially with the camo ruching, which always works well for me. Doesn't my main posed photo look fantastic?!
However, this is how I really look, standing as I often do, as bipeds generally do. Shlumpurumple with baggy fabric all over the place.
Fabric Used:
Rayon lycra from Sawyer Brook, which is a lot less frumpy design than this dress makes out.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I let out the seams a little and raised the hem above the knees. I shouldn't have let out the seams, instead taking in the waist to a smaller size. I think I'm too grossly hour glass for the delicateness of this look. My boobs are oddly disguised, while the waist ruches bag and droop over my belly and butt.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? No, but it could look fantastic on the appropriate body.
Conclusion: Wearable, but not loved. I may just shorten it to a t shirt and take in the sides.

I don't think it's as Shlumpurumple as you do. Perhaps a timeout in the closet before wearing will change your opinion. It is disappointing when things don't turn out quite as wonderfully as we had hoped.

I think it looks pretty sharp myself, but I do understand the feeling of it sagging over ones tummy and backside. I had the same issue with this pattern which I attributed in part to the sweater knit I used which wasn't very springy. I turned it into quite a lovely top in the end!

I don't know - looks great to me. Peg the hem, throw on some jewelry and heels and you are good to go! Cute!

I think it looks good too. Don't look down! When we do that we don't like what we see, but no one else is doing that to you. We are looking straight on and it looks very nice.

Nevertheless, you look wonderful!

Yep, looks good to me, too. I'll take your shlumpurumple over my shlumpurumple any day. Love that fabric, too.
