Pattern Description:
Vest Pattern Sizing:
I used a size 38 (EU) Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Somewhat, but I made some alterations Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I liked the fact that it is quite dressy like a jacket, but with the comfort of a cardigan. It looks well on a dress, because of the open front. The original pattern was without figure darts and therefore a bit shapeless, but this is easy to change. Fabric Used:
Boucle jersey with stretch. A stretchable wool felt was recommended, I think my fabric was stretchier since I already cut a size smaller and still had to take in about 6 cm's at the sides. Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
To give the vest a more tailored look, I added princess seams at the back. Also, I had to take in about 6 cm's on either side (probably due to the stretchiness of my fabric) and subsequently had to take in the sleeve caps a bit. However, I am quite pleased with the result, a fitted jacket / vest that goes well on a dress without covering the dress completely.
The sleeves on the original pattern were quite short (maybe elbow-length), so I added cuffs. I am not very pleased with that, so a next time I will make the sleeves longer and hem them instead. Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes, with the alterations I made I am definitely going to sew it in another color. Maybe I will add knit lining then, since the facings are willing to pop out (if I sew the facings to a lining, this problem might be solved hopefully). Conclusion:
Good pattern, if you add more shape to it by adding princess seams. Vest
