| Pattern Description:
LuLu Dress is a simple shift dress with neck & armhole facing. It has a back zipper and round neckline, is sleeveless and knee length. It also features big side pockets and 3 different design possibilities:
LuLu Block: the color-blocking mod dress
LuLu Black : the little black dress with a lace inset on the center front panel
LuLu Blue : the fun shift dress with a combination of printed and solid fabric, with lace trim embellishment.
I made a version of Lulu Blue
Pattern Sizing:
The pattern comes in sizes 1 to 8. There is a measurement chart included and the pattern is true to measurements.
I sewed a size 3 with a little extra length for my slim 3 (almost 4) year old.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes! There are 3 different versions with photos of each, and lots of for inspiration on Popolok's Facebook page as well. daniKate designs: Lulu Dress
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes! The zipper installation is easy enough for a beginner, and each version is clearly laid out in the instructions (including separate fabric layouts for each).
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I LOVE Popolok Design's patterns. Anyone's who's noticed the difference between Big 4 kid's patterns and Oliver + S patterns will see the same sort of difference in this pattern vs. one of the million other PDF patterns available right now. Beautifully drafted, well-thought out construction, professional instructions, measurement charts and fabric yardages, inspirational color schemes, and more. Truly a stand out.
This pattern in particular has a really nice silhouette.
The fit is great and my daughter loved the pockets.
All the different options really provide a lot of inspiration and a jumping off point for creativity.
It's still winter here and this dress can be worn as a jumper with a shirt underneath--love the versatility!
Fabric Used:
I used a pink & black print from Hobby Lobby for the main panels, with a polka-dotted cotton for the side panels and pockets. I used some pink cotton for the bias tape on the pockets.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I added bias tape to the top of the pockets to highlight them. And I added a little length. Oh, and I had a printing error and made the center panel 5/8" too wide. That was completely my fault though.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I will be sewing it again, soon.
I definitely recommend this pattern! It could replace any A-line style jumper pattern in your stash (if you prefer a zipper over button-tab shoulders).
Conclusion:
I can't say enough good things about this pattern or this designer. Highly recommended!!! |
