| Pattern Description: From Simplicity's website:
Cuddly and comfortable shirts to feel good all day long. View a with shawl collar, B with sporty hood, side pockets and ribbed wrist and hem bands.
Pattern Sizing: 8-18. I would consider sizing down - I'm usually a size 12, but made a size 10 based on the final bust measurements noted on the pattern. I've noted more about this under pattern alterations.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Overall, yes. I made the view with the hood.
Were the instructions easy to follow?Yes
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?I like the styling of the top. This pattern can make a top suitable to wear to work, or a fun sweatshirt top for the weekend. I picked this pattern because I had a double sided fabric- and I wanted a pattern that would allow me to play with both sides of the fabric. I thought the hood was the perfect touch to show both sides at once, and the front seaming allowed me to colorblock.
Fabric Used:Mystery double sided knit, a soft heather knit on one side and a dark brown poly on the other.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:I shortened the arms, which is not unusual for me. I would recommend considering the stretch of your knit and the final bust measurements on the pattern when deciding which size to make. The picture on the front of the pattern looks like the top has a slim cut - but I would say the cut is more generous than the picture shows. If I make this top again I will size down even smaller. Getting the fit over the bust correct is important because it affects how the hood drapes. I think a closer fit will allow the hood to hang nicer than a loose fit.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes, I would sew this again. I would like to try making the view without the hood. Conclusion: Fun, comfortable top. The kangaroo pocket is a nice addition. More picture and info included in my blog.
