Pattern Description:
Casual short jacket made of fake fur, easy to sew, will most probably become one of your favorites. Longer variant B: with binding edges, new silhouette, comfortable like a cape and offering optimum wearing ease.
Pattern Sizing:
10-22
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes. I sewed View A and it matched the envelope photo.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Very easy design and the directions were nicely done for Burda. I think the print pattern instructions are done by a different department than the magazine. There seemed to be more detail and there are some sewing diagrams included.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Thought this was a cute design, it's trendy so it may not age well. Still it took very little time to produce so it still gets a thumbs up from me.
Fabric Used:
Faux chinchilla from gorgeousfabrics.com
Black warm polyester lining from emmaonesock.com
1 1/4 snaps from marcytilton.com
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I made no fitting alterations to this since it was large and roomy.
I added a lining to the coat since who wants to look at faux fur backing.
Used Jen of Grainline studio's jacket lining tut and there are a few notes on my blog.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Wouldn't sew again since it's a trendy type of garment that you really don't need two of. I do like it and would recommend since it is fast and easy.
Conclusion:
If you're looking for a simple kimono jacket this one can't be beat. I think it would look really cute in wool with faux leather cuffs.
