Pattern Description: Girls Little Mermaid Costume, view B on pattern.

Pattern Sizing: Girls' 5-6

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Better. The fabric colors on the pattern were off.

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, except for the ruffle sleeve.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? Liked the self lining bodice.

Fabric Used: Bathing Suit liner for the bodice, sparkly silk for the overlay and skirt, confetti dot for the peplum and fins (BEWARE - this confetti dot fabric gums up your needle from the glue on the dots. In order to prevent this you must cut wax paper strips and sew it into each seam. Once finished, the wax paper rips off easily. Tried using the "oil your needle" method and that did not work.)

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: Used bathing suit liner to make it look more like an authentic ariel. Did not line the fins and it came out fine.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Sure.

Conclusion: Was very happy with how it came out. The skirt was WAY to long, have to cut about 10" off of the top. In turn this helped my niece walk in the costume better. Did not sew the crown, we're going to get a red wig and sew in a red flower like Ariel.
