Pattern Description:
Sleeveless top with neck tie band Pattern Sizing:
34-42 I made a 40 based on my waist and hip measurements and it was very roomy. I might make a 38 if I try it again.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow?
The instructions were just ok. For the tie-band they have you sew it around the neck and then press to the inside. That's it! I went ahead and top stitched into place as I am sure it would be popping out and showing the seam all the time if I hadn't.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
It was very easy to sew, and looks a little bit classier than just a plain tank top.
Fabric Used:
Cotton jersey
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: - I took 2 inches out of the side seam at the bust, as my bust measurement is closer to the 38 and the size 40 was just too roomy there. - My tie-band is only 60" long as opposed to the 90" called for in the pattern. I had a hard time cutting out one long strip so I sewed two together. I did not sew the third one on as I was worried the raw seems would show, since the part that ties into a bow is unfinished. (Hope that makes sense, sounds a bit confusing to me. Sorry)
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I might sew it again and I would recommend it to others.
Conclusion:
This is a quick and easy top, that looks fairly nice for the amount of effort it requires.
Renren said... Your description of the 60 inch neckband/tie makes sense! I understood perfectly and I can see why you wouldn't want a seam in the bow part since it is left as cut. Interesting about just turning the neckband/tie in and pressing it without stitching. I think your top looks great. It reminds me a New Look top I sewed for the OPML contest and that is a good top to wear for comfort and looking a little dressier than a plain tee. Good work! 2/21/13 8:37 AM
