Pattern Description: A 20th Century costume. (Jacket only)
Pattern Sizing: 16-24 (I made size 16)
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?: Kind of sort of. I omitted that weird pleat in the back and did not add the buttons. (time constraints)
Were the instructions easy to follow?: All of them were easy enough to follow, with the exception of the pleat instructions. I still have no idea what they were asking me to do!
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?: It was a nice pattern over all, I could have done without the pleat, is all.
Fabric Used: Black cotton sateen.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: Alright here it goes. I was making/finishing the jacket before Hurricane Sandy hit so I kind of had to rush the end of it. Since I could not figure out the back pleat, I took it out and made channels using the seam allowance. Next, I cut the back away from the side back, making slits that stopped at my waist to accommodate my bustle.
Then, I ran ribbon through the channels and scrunched it up to make it into a nice bustle overlay.
Instead of folding the front pieces out (I did not have time to line anything) I folded them back and made them points.
Lastly, since I suck at button holes and had no time left, I omitted the buttons.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?: I would sew this again now that I know how to play with it to serve my costuming needs.
Conclusion: There is only one thing I can tell you for this pattern: Size Down! I made a 16 after taking all my measurements and the jacket was a house on me! That was also one of the reasons I could not line it, I had changed the inside seams so much that trying to line it would have been a nightmare. |

Would love a better look, but your photo is too tiny. It won't enlarge. :(

I was wavering between this pattern and the Truly Victorian 1880 Jacket Bodice pattern. I think I will try the TV pattern first. But this one is really tempting.

I'm sorry. I do not know how to make the photo a link. I did not realize it would not enlarge. I'll have to fix it somehow.
