Re your fabric. More than once, I've bought fabric off the original bolt and its contents have been labeled wrong. Last week I bought a piece of 100% chambray, and it stretches. Chambray does not stretch. I have a RTW blouse that's supposed to be 100% cotton. I've had it almost forever, didn't believe it was cotton when I bought it and still don't. I bet you got some polyester - or acrylic - blend. Both are hot and sweaty. Both pill, especially acrylic. Poly is more common in Tee shirt weight knits. Acrylic is most common in sweaters. I've seen acrylics that feel like 100% cotton. Bet they look like an old rag after 3 washings. You could try a burn test if you have something to compare a scrap to. If not in your sewing book, I'm sure you could find info about fabric burn tests online. Might get your money back from the place you bought it??? If you got it from the bargain rack, you'll never know. Try making another. This is a nice pattern. I saw one made up where she didn't do the negative ease size. She went next size up. She added 2" to the sleeve length and it looks terrific.
