Pattern Description:
Misses' & Miss petite Traveler shirt dresses. Lisette Sew Your Style pattern.
Pattern Sizing:
6-22. I cut a 12, but meant to cut a 14.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes!
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Certainly were. I wish they would've put the seam and hem allowances in the directions, though.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I liked how super simple it was shirtdress-wise. It was such a quick sew; I had no problems with the pattern at all. It's not fitted, so you definitely need the sash to rein it in, but it's a great casual look.
Fabric Used:
Cotton flannel.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I made an accidental design change when I used a 2 3/4" hem for the skirt (AKA used the sleeve hem depth) instead of 1 1/4". Because of this, I ended up with 8 buttons instead of 9. Not a big deal, but it would've been nice to be able to pop another button on there without it looking silly.
I also added a 1" FBA and lowered the bust dart 1". As I mentioned, I cut the wrong size (I usually cut a 12 in most knit patterns and a 14 in patterns that call for wovens. Brain fart!) so the dress is a bit tight across my shoulders. The next time I make it, I will be cutting a 14, lowering the bust dart 1" and using a 1/2" FBA.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes, I will be sewing it again in my appropriate size. I would recommend it to anyone, but definitely to any beginner that's looking to cut their teeth on a simple collared shirt(dress).
Conclusion:
This is a wonderful, simple, casual dress with a touch of polish. More thoughts on my blog. |
