Pattern Description:
Button-up fitted dress. Pattern Sizing:
I made a size 18, because that's what my shoulders fit to. And it fit my shoulders just perfect. Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
More or less. Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes. The instructions gave basic sewing instructions in them, and hand-walked you through them. The pictures weren't especially good though. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I love the style. So cute. Fabric Used:
Quilting cotton. Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I didn't make any design changes. But I did try to make several fitting alterations. I haven't sewn a dress yet that I think really fits well, despite a couple attempts. Anyway, I did make a muslin this time, but I skimped on making the skirt and I should have, because the skirt weight lengthened out the bodice. I added a FBA and two inches in length because I'm long waisted. I also changed the bust point and changed the darts accordingly. In the end, I think it's wearable but there's a few things that really bother me--mostly because I tried so, sooo hard to get the fit right--one side fits really well and I can move my arm well, the other side looks less well-fitted and I can barely move my arm. But I did them the same. Yes, I know we're not exactly the same on both sides, but really? It makes that much of a difference? Errrrr....... As for right now, I'm blaming all the problems on the fact that I lost 8 lbs while in the process of sewing it. I guess I can't complain too much about that. Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes, I love the dress. Perfect for nursing. And I love the length. Conclusion:
This would a great beginning pattern for any newbie that wants to make the jump from sewing online tutorials and kids clothes to sewing from an actual pattern, just because the instructions are so clear. |
