Pattern Description:
A great retro dress that has a modern feel to it.
Pattern Sizing:
I was in between sizes and decided to go for the smaller size 12, and it fits exactly.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes!
Were the instructions easy to follow?
The instructions were very easy to follow, though I made a few modifications when sewing the top because I thought it would be easier to sew seams in a way that made sense for me. For example, you're supposed to sew the seam to a center point, pivot, and then sew the other side. I found it difficult to get an exact center, even with markings so I switched it up and sewed outward for the pivot point. Much easier!
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I love the versatility. It can be casual or dressy, even with just a simple adjustment of the ties.
One thing I might change in the future is the massive length of the ties. It makes it difficult to manipulate, and I find that tying over the shoulder is the easiest and most flattering - but not ideal if you want to wear a cardigan or carry a purse.
Fabric Used:
Red satin.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I shortened the skirt a few inches.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes, I want to sew it again in a cotton print. My satin is really lovely, but it's suffocating once the warm weather arrives.
Conclusion:
I'm looking forward to attempting this again for a more summer-y look!
