Pattern Description:
Women’s dress, fitted, back zipper, waist seam and slanted darts on front and back. Sewn-on petersham ribbon over the darts and waist seam to give the dress some edge.

Pattern Sizing:
Sizes 34 - 44, I made my usual size 40.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
No, but I made several key alterations because I was trying to copy a Christopher Kane dress to enter in the RTW Contest.

Were the instructions easy to follow?
The dress is so simple that I didn't bother to look at the instructions.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I liked the slanted darts, I think they are a nice detail. Burda's idea of applying petersham ribbon over the darts and waist seam is nice, although I didn't use them this time because I was trying to copy the Christopher Kane dress instead.

Fabric Used:
A polyester crepe with a heavy hand. I chose polyester because I had read that the pleats set in better on a fabric that will "melt" with a high iron temperature, such as polyester.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I made many design changes in order to copy the Christopher Kane dress that I had in mind. First, I eliminated the neck facings since I made it fully lined in self fabric. I then added a diagonal pleat to the front bodice running from one shoulder to the opposite waist dart. I also replaced the front skirt piece with a pleated panel. I then used the front skirt piece to draft a diagonal skirt overlay at front. And finally, I added a waistband.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I do love the simplicity of the original Burda design and the subtle detail of the slanted darts, so yes, now that I have traced it out I will definitely want to make it as Burda intended it, with the petersham ribbon too!

Conclusion:
An easy and simple yet stylish dress, fits in everyone's closet.

I agree that the colour you've used is a much better version that CK's. What a wonderful dress.

Thank you ladies for your kind comments! In reply to magpie57 you can see the line drawing of the Burda pattern I used by clicking on the link that says "More Info provided by ManiMayor", just below the project thumbnail. I'm afraid that I don't know how to make it display the line drawing instead of just showing the link.

It's amazing that you did the pleating yourself, and that you created this dress so quickly!
