| Pattern Description:
This dress has kimono sleeves with partial armholes. It has a rounded slit, form-fitting bodice and the skirt has pleats and slight gathers at the waistline.
Pattern Sizing:
Marfy sizing 42 to 48. A made a 44 for de bodice. With vogue, I would sew a 10 or a 12 for the bodice.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
No, because I changed into the "dream dress on my head"
Were the instructions easy to follow?
What instructions? This is Marfy!
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Everything to love!
Fabric Used:
I used a lightweight green wool, and trimmed it with velvet. The buttons are vintage.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Marfy patterns should be considered blank canvases... There were no instructions, no pattern pieces for the linning, notting! I was puzzeling for hours on how to construct the sleeves. I love the velvet trims, but it was not easy to make.
I used another skirt pattern.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I will not sew this again. This dress is meant to be unique. I do recommend this pattern if you are an advanced seamstress with experience sewing kimono sleeves and creating linnings.
Be aware that the dress needs shoulder pads! Otherwise the sleeves will not look right!
Be aware that Marfy says this dress is to be sewed in wool. When you wear a wool dress you what a linning and this sleeve construction is not easy to line.
Conclusion:
I love this dress! It was my birthday present for myself. It was quite challenging to make.
I wanted to create a dream dress I had on my head. I wanted it to be just perfect, vintage, intemporal and just mine . And that is what I got. Nothing elese to say about it. This dress is just too special.
