Pattern Description:
Misses tunic or vest with front placket and high collar.
Pattern Sizing:
Standard.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, allowing for my changes, and the general uselessness of pattern line drawings.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Vogue's instructions are increasingly irrelevant. For the most part, I ignored them, which was easy to do, as there's nothing complicated about the construction.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I love it -- nice shaping, a useful pocket, and a versatile collar to die for!
Fabric Used:
Three men's sweatshirts in a really nice burnt orange color.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Altered the lower third of the pattern to accommodate the sweatshirts; changes the slope of the shoulders; changed the shape of the hem; made cuffs instead of hemming the sleeves.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes to both. This pattern is going to become a favorite. It's a sweatshirt a grown-up can love. More pictures and details on my blog, Noile.Net.

Many of us here sew enough that we pretty much ignore instructions anyway. They can be a source of confusion as well! I've been stashing this one...thanks for reminding me to give it a go. Your sweatshirt chop up is very resourceful.

I love this!! Thanks for tip on cutting up sweatshirts...the XXL's would afford a good bit of fabric. Brilliant! Great job!

This is super cute and now I must try a version of this pattern. I understand what you are saying about instructions, but I still lean on them from time to time.

I love it! I've looked at this pattern several times and each time decided against purchasing. Did not even recognize it in your reincarnation! Bravo! You have made me rethink buying especially since Vogue and I think JoAnn are running sales!

Perfect colour and very stylish Noile! The rtw sweatshirts certainly yielded a beautiful rich hue and refashioned they look very boutique casual chic. Enjoy your new top.

Your version is waaay better than Vogue's. Vogue needs you on their staff! I think your excellent post may have just created a run on this pattern. I am off to buy this one now! Thanks for a very educational/useful post. Love the color.
