Pattern Description:
The Pencil Skirt from Gertie's New Book For Better Sewing
Pattern Sizing:
Variety of sizes (from Gertie's own sizing chart). I did size 4 - they do fit true to her size chart. I ended up taking it in a bit more since I had stretch fabric and wanted it to be super tight.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow?
They were pretty easy. I would say reading the book would help with any questions you may have. There are also illustrations which help.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I added the boning to mine - which made it feel a bit fancier and helps the waist stay straight very nicely. I also love how this skirt is great for any shape and size - very flattering.
Fabric Used:
Black Stretch Sateen (98% cotton/ 2% spandex)
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I didn't try the lapped zipper - was a bit too lazy. But next time I will!
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Again and again, in many colors! I definitely recommend it!
Conclusion:
This pattern and skirt are great! I can't wait to make a few more. I feel it really flatters any body type and makes you feel like a woman should! I did a review and have more pictures on my blog: http://www.thatssewamy.com/past-projects/gerties-pencil-skirt/
