Pattern Description: Multi-sport skirt with choice of attached hot pants or compression shorts. The pockets at each side band can hold your keys or MP3 player. I made the skort with compression shorts.
Pattern Sizing: Girls to women's plus sizes! Girls size 2 to women's size 22. I cut a size W in the waist and graded to an AA for the hips, bum, thighs. I made the wider waistband.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes!
Were the instructions easy to follow? Absolutely. They are clear and have wonderful illustrations. I made this and a Jalie sports bra at the same time... these were my first Jalie patterns, I love these directions.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I've not yet road tested these yet but have a strong feeling these will be great. I've wanted a running skort for a while but they are so expensive and never fit me properly. I am so excited to have found one that fit me on the first try! The waistband is snug and should stay up. The skirt is flattering for gals like me with full thighs and bum. The side pockets are great. The seams are on the inside, sandwiched between the skirt and shorts-- this is great to prevent chaffing from the seams!
Fabric Used: Supplex from Fabric Mart.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I added length the to shorts. I made the whole skort but left the shorts hem un-sewn because I had a feeling they could be too short. I tried it on and ran in place and the shorts rode up like crazy. I didn't have enough material to re-cut the shorts so I cut an additional 8" for each leg folded it in half and serged the raw edges to the raw edges of the shorts hem... I added about four inches length. The hemline is now seamless looking and the serged hem hides high on my leg under the skirt. The shorts peak out slightly from the skirt, but I don't mind especially if I am preventing leg chafing from shorts that ride way up.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes, I want more of these. I think any runner should give these a try, They'd be a nice skirt for bike riding, tennis or what not. The supplex is so smooth and comfy.
