Pattern Description: Misses' and Miss petite 1960's retro style blouse, skirt, jacket and knit cardigan sewing pattern.
Pattern Sizing: U5 (16-18-22-24) I sewed a 24
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? I sewed just the blouse (so far) and it looked rather like the picture - though, on me, the bow seemed smaller then pictured. also the blouse is hard to see as it's covered in every photo of it.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes - though I got confused a few places while doing the collar. In step 8 it says to apply interfacing to the wrong side of two collar sections. It then calls those pieces 'facing'. Then later in step 12 it talks about facing, but it means the piece that you cut out (and was labeled facing). It was a little confusing but I worked it out eventually. I also ended up attaching the facing like biased tape the first time - which was wrong. Eventually got that figured out as well.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I liked that there were plenty of built in darts that allowed me to adjust the pattern to the size I needed.
Fabric Used: Quilting Cotton (it was my first go at tailoring a blouse and I wanted to use something inexpensive)
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: shortened and widened the darts - and added a second set at the bust line. Took the princess seams at the waste in as well.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes and yes!
Conclusion: Cut top - very adjustable and a great way to add some extra pieces easily to your wardrobe.
Edit: I wanted to add that I didn't put facing in the collar or the bow (as the instructions said) and I'm glad I didn't. I wouldn't want this to have any more stiffness then it already had.
