Pattern Description:
Close-fitting, strapless, lined dress has seam details, piping trim, princess seams, foundation with boning, side front pockets, pleats and darts, above mid-knee length. Pattern Sizing:
Size 12-18 and I used 12. Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes it did. Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes they were, Vogue instructions are always great in my opinion. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I like that the skirt is lapped over the bodice at the waist. The pleating on the front skirt is great. I also like the side pockets, that's a nice detail for a special occasion dress.
The bodice is well shaped but has so many pieces that it takes a lot of time to assemble, at least for me. I got a bit fed up with it to be honest. Fabric Used:
Brocade in acetate blend for the fashion fabric, silk taffeta for the piping and rayon/acetate for the lining. Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
No alterations or changes. Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I might make this dress for myself in a more plain fabric e.g. solid cotton. In that case it has to be when I have "oceans of time".
I would recommend this to anyone who wants to sew a cute dress and who has some patience. Conclusion:
I made this for my daughter for a wedding. The color of the fabric which is pastel green suits her very well. The pattern is great for a brocade and as always Vogue has excellent instructions. I'm very happy with the result.
