Pattern Description: Dress with front bodice pleats, tulip skirt with front pleats. Sleeve variations, optional belt variations. Two skirt lengths.
Pattern Sizing:Us 6-16 Eur 32-42. I sewed Size 12 (38) dress but cut out a size 14 belt to ensure not too big a gap at the front.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes.
Were the instructions easy to follow? The instructions were ok. though I preferred to insert an invisible zip into the dress first rather than into the lined bodice. I was also surprised that the pattern did not include a skirt lining. I used a plain fronted skirt pattern to cut the front skirt lining not wanting to use the dress pattern as it had pleats in it. I made up the complete lining before attaching to the neck edge. The instructions are not really clear in relation to the piping around the belt. They do not include piping cord as an requirement but I used it inside the silk bias binding. I had thought about making some matching silk bias to use but it is not very economical on material and as I found a reasonable match in satin bias purchased a packet.Satin bias on belt
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I don't think I would have picked out this pattern had I not see it as a winner of the LBD compettition. Decided that some purple silk dupion I had in my Stash would be great for this dress and suitable to wear at my 70th birthday family celebration. I liked the front bodice pleats and the quite modest neckline. The dress can be worn with or without a belt. without belt
Fabric Used: Silk dupion. Whilst this looks quite heavy it is incredibly light and makes up well without bulk where there are pleats etc.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: Shortened the front and bodice back at shoulder seams by 1/2 inch in order that front pleats hit the bust line. Added a skirt lining and used piping cord inside the bias binding on the belt.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes I shall probably make a sleeveless version in a cotton fabric for the summer.I would recommend the pattern
Conclusion: This is very useful pattern. It is quite close fitting but has a nice shape though it should be noted that the front skirt with the pleats is more full than the back
