| Pattern Description: Misses jacket with collar and sleeve variations
Pattern Sizing: I cut a 14 which would be the right size according to the finished bust size, but when I started sewing, I got nervous that it would be too small, so I sewed smaller seam allowances and it came out perfect.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? It looked exactly as I envisioned with the variations I selected.
Were the instructions easy to follow? They were fairly easy. I did not consider myself an 'advanced' beginner until I finished this project, lol. The only part I really needed extra help with were the sleeves - I didn't know what a sleeve header was or how to do shoulder pads...found excellent tutorials online that helped with that. This pattern provided me with lots of new 'skills' - in an easy, non-intimidating way (buttons, linings, pockets!). My one complaint would be that I had the lining completely in and then the instructions said to understitch. At that point - it's impossible to understitch as the liner is already in (unless there's some trick I haven't learned yet!). I would chalk this up to user error but I'm pretty sure I followed the instructions to the letter and the understitching should've come earlier.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I loved the multiple variations for sleeves and collars. I've been a bit intimidated with pockets and wasn't going to do them originally but after reading the instructions, felt they didn't look that hard and gave it a whirl.
Fabric Used: I'm still getting to know the various types of fabrics so not sure what exactly this was. It was red, textured and I got it from the suiting section in JoAnn's lol.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: Nothing major - I sewed smaller seam allowances because I was worried about the size. I really need to learn how to do FBAs.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Absolutely would sew again. I love wearing this and telling everyone that I made it. There are so many other variations, that I could make it again without looking like the same jacket. I would recommend this to any other amateurs out there who know the basics and want to make something that looks difficult but really isn't!
