| Pattern Description:
Top, tunic and dress are close-fitting, partially lined and have side seam zipper.
Pattern Sizing:
6-12 in one envelope and 14-20 in a separate envelope. I would say the sizing is correct for the size I made my daughter (Size 8). This pattern is drafted for a body which has equal bust and hip and if you are larger on the bottom half you will definitely need to grade to a larger size.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, although I think the shoulders look a little narrower on my version and in many of the versions sewn by other sewists.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Very easy. There is one A3 sheet which includes cutting layouts and instructions. The instructions for the garment take only three columns and the last three columns are devoted to instructions in French. So there are not too many steps to this dress/top/tunic. Stay stitching, basting and pressing instructions are all included where necessary. I chose not to line the top of this dress but the lining instructions seem clear enough.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I like the pleating at the top of the bodice front and back. It's a nice fresh approach to shaping a bodice. I like the shaping of the shoulders too. I like the little peek-a-boo pleat in the top of the front bodice. My daughter really likes the side zip.
Fabric Used:Cotton sateen with a hint of lycra. Stretch wovens and lightweight linens are the suggested fabrics. I think that bit of lycra makes the garment much more wearable.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I made no alterations to the fit but sewed a straight size 8 for my daughter. I chose not to line the bodice because the fabric had some stretch and a lining would have taken that little bit of movement away. I made a 2 inch bias tape of pink rayon lining, doubled it, and finished the neckline and armholes with that. Easy, neat and looked fine from the outside. I added an inseam pocket on the right hand side using a lovely ivory piece of silk from my stash. She requested the pocket after I had sewn the dress so I had to do a bit of unpicking. Oh well.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I would not sew this again probably. I wouldn't make the pattern up for me as it is too restrictive and tight for my tastes but it suits my rectangular shaped daughter very well. If she requests another I will make it for her again.
Conclusion: A fast and easy dress, just as the pattern envelope claims. It doesn't take much fabric, just 1.50 m, and makes an attractive little dress, top or tunic.

Oh this is so pretty-very fresh and springy! This has been on my short list for a long time and you are definitely making me want to move it up. I also like your bias binding instead of lining.

Pretty! I probably wouldn't have given this pattern a second glance, but after seeing this on your daughter, I may have to reconsider. Fits her perfectly! Great idea of the binding for the armholes and neckline. Beautiful fabric choice :)

Great dress. Did you point out to your daughter that next time she should tell you about the pocket in advance?

Mitalik it is just from the local fabric store here in Australia - Spotlight. There are lots of lovely cotton sateens around this year I have noticed. This particular one has lycra in it so it has a little bit of give.
