Pattern Description: 1960’s retro style blouse, skirt, jacket and knit cardigan sewing pattern. This review focuses on the sassy skirt only.
Pattern Sizing: I went off the finished garment measurements rather than the recommended size. This fit like a dream.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Darn straight it did.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes. Though I googled a kick pleat tutorial to get a picture by picture explanation of how to make this feature as I had never tackled this before.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I really love the kick pleat and the length of this skirt. It gives a fantastic 60s vibe to the finished piece and for the first time I am able to wear a pencil skirt and walk with ease.
Fabric Used:Wool boucle for the shell and rayon for the lining.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I fully lined the skirt with rayon lining but otherwise made it as outlined.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Most definitely! This is my new go to work pattern and I can't wait to make it again!
Conclusion: I am in love with this! The wool mixed with the below the knee length and the kick pleat make for a fab outfit. I also went a bit crazy and hong kong finished the hem to add some extra polish to the look. I've got more details on my blog at: nformation of the construction of this skirt at: http://bimbleandpimble.blogspot.com.au/2013/03/amanda-vs-simplicity-2154-pencil-skirt.html
