Pattern Description:
Dress has loose-fitting bodice (overlapped neckline) cut-in-one with longer than regular length, elasticized sleeves, fitted skirt, invisible side zipper, and optional thread loops. Dress is cut on crosswise grain.
Pattern Sizing:
B5: 8 - 16, F5: 16 - 24
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Pretty much
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, but cutting out was hilarious! The front piece is so large that I had nowhere other than the floor that was big enough to lay out the pattern on!
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I really like the design, but they ought to give advice about the fabric needing to have a lot of drape. I love the shape of the top and its unusual pleats, but also the overall simplicity of the silhouette.
Fabric Used:
Ponte knit - I wouldn't recommend this, though. The pattern needs something softer and more supple.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
None.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I will sew it again as it's a lovely dress, but in a softer knit. I know we tend to take Vogue's figure flattery guide with a pinch of salt, but if you are larger on top, I'd avoid this one as those front pleats really do emphasise the chest area.
Conclusion:
A quick and easy dress, very nice lines and I'll make another, possibly soon!
