Pattern Description:
A multi-season jacket in a classic short length. ( taken directly from pattern.)
Pattern Sizing:
0-18. I cut a 10
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes!
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, very easy. Colette patterns are superbly well explained.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I loved how complete this pattern felt with very detailed pictures and explanations. My only complaint is in doing the bound-buttonholes I felt that if I had completed the welt-pockets first (which were easier for me) that perhaps I would have been more practiced at the buttonholes. In any case, that is a very minor thing.
Fabric Used:
Light weight wool coating in plum, cotton muslin for underlining, and Bemberg Ambiance rayon lining.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I cut a size larger than I normally would wear due to being pregnant and I did a small shoulder adjustment.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I most definitely will be sewing this again and I learned so much! I would highly recommend this to someone who's looking to make their first jacket or tailored garment.
Conclusion:
This wasn't not an easy or quick thing to sew, but I really enjoyed the process and I learned so much. I'd call it a great skill-builder and yields a gorgeous jacket at the end. I've been wearing it almost daily to work!

BlueSkysAhead said... lovely, I made a jacket once. 5 years ago? It was horrible. It has taken me that long to even want to try again. I do hope you had a great time and that it fits. Isn't it a lot of work? I didn't have Colette pattern. Maybe it was the pattern? Or my fabric choice. Great job!! 3/11/13 10:22 PM
