Pattern Description: Misses' Knit Dress and Cowl-Collar
Pattern Sizing:(6-14)(16-22)I made view A, size 14.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?yes
Were the instructions easy to follow?yes. Pay attention to the cowl part, though. That was the only part I had to unpick. Also, the pattern has you hem the sleeves before they are sewn to the dress. I ignored that and hemmed them afterward.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?I love how it went together so easily. The neckband went on perfectly the first time. I like that the cowl is removeable.
Fabric Used:a steel-blue sweater knit with plastic sparkles from Joann Fabrics. I was afraid my machine would balk at it, but I had no problems. I do think this pattern looks better in heavier knits vs. lightweight ones.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:I added an inch to the side seams beginning under the arms for fit insurance. I also added two inches to the length and to the sleeves (which was almost too much).
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?Yes, I have another version in mind. Very easy and so pain-free to sew.
Conclusion: This dress is a similar silhouette to McCalls 6612 but has a different feel. It's great for more beefy fabrics. You can read more on my blog
