|Pattern Description: Misses' Tracy Reese dress: Pullover, close-fitting, lined dress has draped sides and narrow hem.|
Pattern Sizing: I cut a 6.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Similar, except mine is shorter and has cap sleeves.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, very, although, I did stray a bit
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I looove the gathers along the side seams! This is such a flattering dress!
I do wish they had different sleeve options, though, it wasn't too difficult to modify this pattern for such.
Fabric Used: Polyester-Spandex Knit from Fabricville. I must say, as soon as I laid eyes on this fabric, I was sold! I didn't even wait for it to go on sale (which I most often do, cheap as that sounds! I did get a 20% discount however, for having a membership card
I have to say, I loved mimig's dress so much that I wanted another dress in a floral print She is quite the inspiration!
Lining is a "power-mesh" fabric. I think its polyester with stretch. It sounded similar to what Chenille used for her version, and I figured it would be perfect for a warm-weather dress, as I definitely wanted to line this dress without suffering heat exhaustion as our summers here in Nova Scotia can be disgustingly humid!
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: Re-drafted the sleeves to be cap sleeves and shortened it by a few inches. In hindsight, I wish I would've made it a little longer, but oh well!
I used clear elastic to make the gathers as recommended by ggf2005. Although I was impatient and didn't gather each side of each piece separately. Instead, I gathered the front and back sides together.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? This pattern will not see retirement for a while This is the second time I've made this dress (and it won't be the last), I heartily recommend it!
Conclusion: I just love this pattern, and I love this dress! More photos and thoughts on my blog
