Pattern Description:
Fuchsia is the skirt you can wear for both work and play. This three tiered gathered skirt has a modern silhouette and flirty scallops for a sweet lolita twist. It is fully lined and has a curved waistband that flatters all figure types. Fuchsia also features an invisible side zipper to keep the beautiful line of the scallops perfectly smooth. This versatile pattern has many variations built in with several fabric options. Sew two tiers or just one tier; add more gathers, use less gathers. It is all up to you!
Pattern Sizing:
0-26
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yup. Since I used a slightly stiff polyester taffeta, it is not as drapey as the illustration. This skirt can look so different depending on the fabric you use. You can see this variety by checking out Nhi's versions.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
There is a detailed sew-along to follow with tons of pictures. A beginner could follow along and make a well constructed garment. The sew-along links are all posted on the website here.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I liked everything about it! Of course I might be biased.....
Fabric Used:
Polyester taffeta from Joann's. It has diagonal stitching and sequins at every crossover point. It is super cute!
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I made the pattern exactly as is. Nhi made many variations for the One Pattern Many Looks contest.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I will definitely be sewing it again. I have several other versions planned!
Conclusion:
I love this pattern (of course) and the waistband is very well drafted. Fuchsia fits well and lends itself to many different options. Can't get much better than that!

I have read ahead and the inv. zipper tutorial is great--I may finally be able to do one! Yay! Thanks again for such a great pattern. Love all of these skirts you and Nhi have sewn. 3/11/13 11:35 AM
