| Pattern Description: Scoop neck, raglan sleeve with gathers top or tunic.
Pattern Sizing:I used a size 40-42; it is a multi-sized pattern.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?Mostly it does, however I used a print that truly does not show the gathers on the sleeves as a solid color does.
Were the instructions easy to follow? The instructions are okay and like most reviewers know Burda instructions can be confusing.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I no longer subcribe to Burda Magazine but seeing this top reviewed here peaked my interest. Visiting BurdaStyle website, I decided to buy and download this pattern. It was not difficult to print and put all the pieces together, though I did kill a few trees in the process. I then traced the pattern using sizes noted above. Tracing
I tested the pattern early on and found all the fitting issues that I disliked. Doing so allowed me to view how the gathers were going to look.test garment
Fabric Used:a lovely soft knit from EOS.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:I made several changes. I felt on my test version the scoop neck was too low for me and too wide. I raised the neckline about an inch requiring me to do that with sleeves at the neckline also. Length was like a dress more than a tunic and I wanted a top. I had reduced the length an inch on the traced pattern and it was still too long and I am a petite and Burda's are more for taller women. I reduced it another inch and a half on the finished garment. It was also to fitted through waist and hips, I added an inch from waist to bottom. I made a 1.5 inch FBA as is my usual adjustment and decided to keep the resulting dart. The sleeves were very long and I reduced the length by an inch and half also, With final garment I cut off another inch. Raised neckline and long sleeves Correct length and fit Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I would and will sew it again. One thing I learned is that the gathers, which for me and probably others, were the key in wanting to make this top and with a busy print they do not show up as well when wearing. You can see here how they look but not like a solid color as you see on others' reviews. So I will use a solid color next time. I do recommend the pattern to others and suggest reading reviews here, which I did, as there are fitting concerns to be aware of.
I also will change the neckline again. I needed to raise it but believe I went to far and will scoop it out a little for the next version. Conclusion: Nice pattern with potential fitting problems. Nice design features.

You did a great job with this, I just think the print works against you here even though it's a great print. I had the same dilemma with this wanting to use a print, but it does mask the shoulder gathering. You should definitely make this again in the solid, especially after doing all the mock-up work on this. You have perfected the fit although I agree with lowering the neck just a tad. This thing can be quite wide the way Burda has it, something I need to fix on my own version so I don't blame you for raising it.
