Pattern Description:
I love the renfrew pattern so much that I decided to "cardiganize" it. For my review of the pattern as written click here. Below is a basic review for the pattern changed into a cardigan.
Fabric Used:
Fabric is a arcylic/polyster/wool blend from mood. (Still in stock)
The fabric has moderate stretch and very little drape which made it ideal fitted cardigan fabric.
I used tricot interfacing on the neck and button bands for some extra stability.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
For detail instructions and pictures of my pattern pieces check out this blog post.
A general overview of my changes are as follows.
1. Cut yoke on the front and back pieces and added extra ease for decorative gathers.
2. Shortened the body by 2".
3. Lengthen the neckband by 1".
4. Added some extra wearing ease to body and sleeves.
5. Drafted a button band.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes I would sew this again! I've not been happy with most of the cardigan patterns out there but this modified renfrew is perfect.
Conclusion:
Simple modifications to a great pattern make it even more useful. Thanks Sewaholic!
