Pattern Description:
I made view C, with an attached cowl neck and darts in the bodice.
Pattern Sizing:
I cut an 18, with size 20 hips.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I had trouble with fabric pooling at center back, and thought it might be because the hips were too snug still, or because a sway-back adjustment was needed. I noticed that the hem was shorter in the back, and I know I have a large derriere, so this made me suspect it was not sway-back, but snug around the hips.
I did an experiment, and it paid off well. I cut a godet of the velour (opposite to the nap of the back, for visual interest). I made a slit up the center back, and inserted the godet. Suddenly, the pooling at center back vanished, and it had a much more flattering fit overall. I even received compliments on the godet!
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
From the front yes, from the back the godet makes it look quite different.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
This is a very simple pattern, with great instructions. If you want to make something in one day, I recommend it (although I sew slowly, so it took me 3 evenings to finish it).
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I like the attached cowl neck view, it is cozy, and had a flattering fit.
Fabric Used:
I used a knit velour from Joann Fabrics. It is so soft, and warm. It doesn't look like pyjamas, but it feels like them!
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes & yes! |
Great save with godet and it does look really good! (I used this trick once myself.). The color is beautiful.
