Pattern Description: Girls top in 2 lengths with sleeve options
Pattern Sizing: 7-14 (I graded down to a size ~5)
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, except that I made it dress length
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, very. It is a "Learn to Sew" pattern so the instructions were extensive and would be great for a beginner.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? This is a simple, easy to sew top with no closures or fasteners. The sleeves are kimono style so there is no setting of the sleeve. SO EASY!
Fabric Used: Cotton Dotted Swiss and plain cotton for the facings
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I graded down to about a size 5, and used the length of the size 14 to make a knee length dress. I did check to make sure that my daughter could get the bodice over her head before sewing it up. To be sure, I spread the bodice about 3/8" before stitching. Next time I may use the size 7 neckline with my graded size 5 bodice.
I crossed the left bodice front in front of the right because of the print placement.
When making the waistband casing, the instructions do not have you finish the raw edges of the seam allowance before sewing them down to make a casing. I serged the raw edges first, which was much neater.
This is a beautiful dress. Great idea to change it from a top to a dress!
