fitted top from alabama studio sewing + design, cropped and finished as a babydoll top. all of the seams were machine-stitched and then hand-finished with a parallel whipstitch. the binding is plain black knit and finished with a catchstitch.
i created the fabric, starting with an XXL men's white t-shirt which i tie-dyed using the jacquard tie-dye kit and the "bunching" technique. using a rubber band to gather up a folded area, i included a heart on what would be the bodice of the top.
i was deliberately riffing on a color palette inspired by one of my favorite pieces of artwork, a heart motif by peter max. in addition to the color palette, i adapted a drawing from him into a screenprint, which i then added to the top.
