| Pattern Description:
Variations on the classic pencil skirt
Pattern Sizing:
Made my usual 10 in Vogue
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yep
Were the instructions easy to follow?
I didn't really use them, but I scanned them and it seemed like they should have been.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I loved the high waist and flounce at the hem. Pencil skirts are particularly flattering on my smaller waist-larger behind body and this one is ultra feminine.
Fabric Used:
Really pretty mens suiting fabric I got on mega clearance from a local shop that was closing down. It's a brown, tan and blue glen plaid.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I bound the raw edge of my facing with some bias tape just because I like the way that looks really. I also had some lace hem tape that matched my fabric so I used that in my hem. I also omitted the belt loops. I didn't have enough fabric to make the belt anyway and I wanted to have the option of wearing it sans belt. Other than that, I don't think I changed anything apart from sewing the pieces together without really following the order in the directions.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Most definitely. This might be my new go to pencil skirt pattern. I got loads of compliments on it at work today. I was feeling like I needed a new outfit this weekend and whipped this out in few hours. This is definitely one of those patterns that you can dig out of the pile and finish in one afternoon for some instant gratification.
Conclusion:
love, love, love. I would recommend this skirt to everyone. Every woman should have a sexy pencil skirt in their wardrobe and this one is a winner.
Here are a few pictures. Excuse the fact that it's a bit rumpled from being worn all day. Side View
