Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Mostly. I didn't add buttons, I did a belt instead and mine was fuller at the bottom. I did size 10 in view B.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
I hadn't worked with a pattern in about 10 years, so I found some parts a bit confusing. Mainly how to attach the collar and the whole pocket situation. Other than that they were easy.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I love the princess seams, double-breasted, shoulder pads and full skirty bottom. It's a very fitted flattering coat.
Some type of wool mix - sorry I don't remember exactly!
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Instead of the buttons I made belt loops and a belt. I felt with the fabric pattern the buttons made everything look too busy. I made up my own way to do the pockets since I was confused by the instructions and I made the bottom fuller. Lastly, I made the sleeves extra super long - I love that I finally have a coat with proper sleeve length!
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Most definitely. It did take a lot of time and work but I love how it turned out. I want to make the shorter one and in a lighter fabric for spring.
I love my coat. I have had many compliments from friends, family and strangers. It's very warm and I feel fancy wearing it. I'm in love with the fabric/pattern I choose too.
