| Pattern Description: skirt with drape front detail
Pattern Sizing: endless - you order based on your own measurements. Melissa from Fehrtrade wrote a great article on how to order their patterns which is well worth a read if you're interested in giving them a go - www.fehrtrade.com/article/493/how-to-buy-lekala-patterns
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? yep, sure did.
Were the instructions easy to follow? er, no. complete gobbledygook in fact. you need to have a bit of an idea what you're doing to attempt this one (unless you can read russian of course) as the google translation, whilst hilarious, is completely meaningless.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love a garment with an interesting detail. I also loved that it was made to my measurements so it fitted perfectly. It is a bit tedious printing out the pattern & sticking it together, but worth it as the designs offered are really nice & the price is brilliant.
Fabric Used: a polyester crepe remnant that I picked up ages ago for $2.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I lined this, & also modified how the pleated flounce sat & the position of the little front band. I also used lining on the underside of the front band to minimise bulk. It was still a bit bulky where the flounce & front band attached to the skirt.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? probably not as its quite distinctive. But I really like it & it fitted really well (perfectly in fact). I would certainly recommend it to someone who has a bit of experience (due to the garbled instruction translations).
Conclusion: I'm a recent Lekala convert, & will be sewing many more of their designs. This skirt is lovely & turns out as per the drawing. I could not recommend it to beginners though, only because the instructions translated into english are completely useless. But htey do have some great designs, with more being added regularly, so are worth a try, especially for the price.

Pretty skirt. I'll get around to trying this company one day, probably the last one on the band wagon.
