Pattern Description: This pattern is for a color blocked dress that can be made with or without sleeves.
Pattern Sizing: This is available in sizes 4-20.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes!
Were the instructions easy to follow? I thought the instructions were fine but the construction was a little tedious. The black points that come down on either side of the hip could be challenging. I found that the best way to tackle these was to sew one edge up to a point. Instead of pivoting, take the dress out, repin the next edge and start again. This was much more easier than trying to pin the whole seam together and it created those nice sharp points.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love the finished look of the dress. The style is very flattering and slimming.
I do not like the lining. It is cut from the same pattern as the dress so must be pieced together in the same way. This time consuming and a pain in the you know what. I wish the lining had its own, basic pattern pieces.
Fabric Used: I used stretch cotton sateen for both the print and solid black fabric from Fabric.com. The lining is white Ambiance also from Fabric.com.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I made no changes. If you look at the pattern envelope, the dress is quite short (in my modest opinion). I am petite so the dress hit me lower which I liked. If you are taller though, you may want to add some length... or not
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I probably won't sew this again just because one is enough. I do recommend this to others.
Conclusion: I really like the finished looks. It is form fitting and modern. The black color blocking is very flattering and slimming.

I have made this dress twice since it is a very popular style among the young women in my life. Would like to make one for myself! Love your black and white fabric choices. 3/17/13 10:43 AM

yummymummy38 said... Great statement dress, especially for colour or pattern blocking. Love the bold leopard print. I have made an eyelet lace and blue linen version and one like yours, with a very busy Ponte print centrally, offset by black on the sides. I would made the lining differently, perhaps making the sides into princess seams. I found it best to mark all dots, sew and back stitch to dot then take out dress and slash to the dot, spreading and then pinning the rest of the seam. Very effective pattern, not sure why there are so few reviews of it here... 3/18/13 8:11 PM
