Pattern Description:
"Girl's dress and bloomers with unisex playsuit. Sundress and playsuit feature button straps, curved bodice seam and optional flat piping. Bloomers have elasticized waist and leg openings."
Pattern Sizing:
The pattern is available in two sizes--birth to 24M, and 2T to 5--each of which provides 4 or 5 sizes. I made a 12-18M, because while the recipient was 11 months at the time of the gift, she'll be 15 months at Easter (and it's an Easter-y print fabric).
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Definitely. I didn't do the piping because I felt the fabric had enough going on already, but it looks otherwise like the picture and just as I'd hoped.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Very much so. This was my first experience with Oliver + S, and I'll say the patterns and instructions definitely live up to their acclaim.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
No complaints, really. I did french seams, which probably weren't the easiest choice for the curved seams, but the resulting skirt really holds its shape, almost like a light fabric boning.
Fabric Used:
A lightweight cotton print.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes and yes. I loved this pattern, and learned that I love making baby clothes because the small scale really allows one to be as careful and precise as possible without a huge time investment. I'd highly recommend it to beginners as well. |
