Pattern Description:
18" stuffed teddy bear pattern.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Not really, but only because of my modifications to the pattern, as described below. Also I didn't make the vest.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes. I have sewn a few softie patterns, and I have to say I was pretty impressed with these instructions. The formatting left something to be desired (a lot of page turning as it was laid out), but the actual language was great.
Fabric Used:
Quilting cotton
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
My MIL loves panda bears and University of Texas football, so I put those two loves together. I got some nice medium weight quilting cotton with a licensed University of Texas print and modded up the pattern to make it into a panda bear. This involved splitting each of the four body pattern piece into two parts. Getting the curves right involved a lot of measuring and some math, but it came out about right, I think. I used applique for the eye patches and felt nose.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes and yes. It's an adorable bear, and not too complicated or difficult. Also, as far as I can tell is the same as Simplicity 5461 except without the 22" size and the hat pattern. |
Cute! I love the red fabric you used! The bear turned out great! My mom used to make all kinds of stuffed animals and dolls when I was growing up. Very good job!
