Pattern Description:
'Women’s top sewing pattern available for download. At work we always have to be perfectly dressed. So it’s lovely to be able to let-go at home and this relaxed top is the perfect thing to wear! The doubled hem band gives a casual blouson-effect. This top also makes a great layering piece.' Download here Pattern Sizing:
Burda sizes 36-44. I made size 40 according to my measurements, which would fit AU/UK size 12. It turned out slightly bigger than I expected (I was hoping for a size 10). Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes. There are two versions of this top in the magazine, one in knit and one in woven fabric, both with knit trim. I made the woven one. Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, this is a simple top to make but it took me a few tries to get the neckline to sit nicely so I made up my own method for this. I have written about it in my blog What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I like the combination of knit and woven fabric and the relaxed style of the top. Fabric Used:
I'm not sure what this fabric is as there was no label on the roll. I found it amongst the ripstop nylons and sporty fabrics at Homecraft Textiles in Perth, WA. It is soft and does not wrinkle. It was only $5/metre in the half price sale! The bands are made from knit ribbing. Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I changed the way I attached the ribbed neckline and armbands (see above). I also altered the height of the waistband to make it 3cm narrower than the pattern suggested. Next time I make this I will probably take in the side seams a bit, or make a smaller size, as it's a bit roomy on me. Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I will sew this again and would recommend it to others. It is a simple and stylish pattern that would make good use of smaller pieces of fabric. Conclusion:
This is a very wearable top that could be dressed up or down. I really like the combo of knit and woven and the scope this gives for different colour combinations and looks. It is a comfortable and flattering style to wear that still looks nice. I think I will be making more of these in many combinations of fabrics.
