Pattern Sizing: K5 (8-16) U5(16-24) I made the size 12.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? I don't think it really ended up looking like the pattern because I added a "collar". The silhouette or shape is the same.
Were the instructions easy to follow?I didn't really use them but they are simple. Just a front princess seam, side seam and center back seam.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?I liked that it's a simple shape with lots of possibilites.
Fabric Used:I used a pair of jeans and a flannel shirt.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:I added the waistband of the jeans as a "collar" to the vest.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?Yes, probably but not exactly the same way. Since it's such a simple shaped vest, this pattern could be used in many ways.
Conclusion: I'm happy with my finished Upcycled Vest!! I took 2 pieces of clothing that were not useful to me anylonger and made them into something wearable, fun and Fabulous!!
This review is for my version of Simplicity 4032 view E, the vest. It's an upcycled project made from a pair of jeans and a flannel shirt. The vest only has a few piece to the pattern and it was a quick and easy project. It's fun for me to find ways to make something new out of something old or that I was going to get rid of. I also like to use the pieces of the garments in different ways. I used the waistband of the jeans as a collar and as the front closure of the vest. I also removed the small coin pocket on the jeans and added it to the front of the vest.
I hope this upcycled project will inspire you in some way to give new life to something you may have thought of discarding. For many pictures of this project as I went along, please check out my Blog.
