said... good review. Never yet made undies for a man, but would like to someday... maybe for my son. He is always pulling at his undies saying they're uncomfy. I'll have to see if this pattern is available for children now :) Thanks for the great review. 8/4/02 4:52 PM

said... Marita, I am so glad you enjoy my reviews. I try to put in all the things I have learned by sewing the pattern, which I think is what this great Web site is about, and hope that they help others when they come to sewing it up. I read a book called 'Colour For Men' (by Carole Jackson) and found out that I am an autumn, which is great because I love all those warm, earthy colours! 8/4/02 8:24 PM

said... Jay, I am a man interested in sewing a one piece V-necked undershirt and boxers combination. I assume that the one piece will be more comfy and will stay up, while with the two piece undershirt and briefs I always have the problem of the briefs sagging during a long day. Does this pattern allow this transformation? 10/22/02 2:05 PM
said... Milton, I should imagine that you could easily do with this pattern what you want to do. It is a fairly simple process to convert a round-neck t-shirt into a v-neck, and as far as making the t-shirt and shorts into a one-piece bodysuit of sorts, I would make each piece up once as a separate and then try them on. Pin and mark them where you would join them and where they feel comfortable, and then you can alter you pattern (you probably wouldn't need the elastic at the waist if you are joining them, for instance) accordingly. How will you actually get into the bodysuit - perhaps snaps at the shoulders? 10/22/02 8:55 PM
said... Jay, is this pattern easy to use the scoop neck of the tank with the short sleeves? My SO actually likes v-neck short sleeve t's, but I don't think I am up for converting a neck line yet. 10/22/02 10:35 PM
said... Mary, I should think that it would be really easy to use the scoop neck from the vest with the t-shirt pattern (ie: with short sleeves). Just trace the pattern for the vest neckline opening onto your t-shirt pattern piece, and follow the instructions for sewing neck for THE VEST, instead of the t-shirt, and for the rest of the t-shirt follow THE T-SHIRT instructions. 10/23/02 0:21 AM
said... Another great review Jay. I have one tip for the "lettuce" efect. I get it sometimes no matter how careful I am. I avoid it by either reducing the pressure on my presser foot and sort of pushing the fabric through (a bit tricky) or just putting a strip of paper over the bit to be sewn. It's easy to tear out afterwards, and you get perfectly even stitching. 10/25/02 6:40 AM
