Pattern Description:
Fitted, cropped jacket with full length sleeves, back vents and petersham ribbon trim Pattern Sizing:
36 - 44 Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes Were the instructions easy to follow?
I didn't really use them as I have made a number of jackets now. I did use speed tailoring methods for construction. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Beautiful, flattering design. The pattern gives reference points for making sure that your checks line up, too. There are lots of pieces to this, but it does make for an excellent fit. Fabric Used:
Wool/mohair poly mix boucle for the shell, poly crepe satin for the lining and a duchesse satin for the piping at the lining/facing edge. I used petersham ribbon for the trim, using a steam iron to stretch the outer edge for the curved sections around the collar and lapels, and very slightly along the hem edges. Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Mainly fitting ones:
Sway back, grading up through sizes from shoulder down.
I also made bound buttonholes in the front as this fabric was quite thick and springy, and handworked buttonholes on the sleeve vents. I also made functioning sleeve vents. Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes - I have another planned in a lovely teal boucle for the spring. Thoroughly recommended. Conclusion:
A very flattering pattern for pear shapes. Well designed and accurately sized according to measurements given in magazine; terrific shoulder line, too.

Absolutely lovely jacket! How did you use the satin to make the ribbon around the edge? Did you create a tube and sew it on?
